Yanlışların Suçu / Guilt of Mistakes
Ankara State Opera and Ballet

Prison is a place where one’s origin, language, or nationality no longer matter. Although it provides a chance for rehabilitation, it is primarily permeated with aggression, pain, and helplessness. Nobody can trust anyone there, and everyone feels threatened. Life does not become easier after leaving the prison walls, as those who have been punished are often socially rejected. But is it not worth giving them a second chance? Do they not want to change their lives for the better?
The performance portrays the stories of women who have ended up in prison. Socially rejected, stripped of their identities, families, and homes, they become just a number in the system, and the world slowly forgets about them. We often think of such women as people who are immoral, lacking in empathy and principles. However, we do not realize what drove them to commit the crime. Can domestic violence or betrayal be a justification for a crime? Should mental illness or killing in self-defense be excused?
The performance does not defend or condemn. It does not judge or impose answers. Everyone must answer these questions individually.
