The presented version of the ballet The Nutcracker is an original adaptation of the classic story. The performance takes the audience into contemporary reality and tells the story of young people who are bored with life and do not believe in the magic of the holidays. However, their fate changes when they accidentally meet a toymaker who takes them to a land where the impossible becomes possible and dreams come true.
The adaptation was tailored to the profile of the Modern Dance Company at the Ankara State Opera and Ballet. Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s music remains in its full version, but minor adjustments were made to some musical parts to better reflect the contemporary character of the performance. The scenery and costumes were designed to transport the audience to a magical world where everything is possible.
This performance is a unique opportunity to see a classic story in a completely new, contemporary light. Dance, music, and scenery all come together to create a magical world in which everyone can feel part of the story.
