HER HIStory

Wrocław Opera

The performance portrays contemporary problems of society, in which the media tries to influence our way of thinking and perceiving the world. Suppressing individuality and uniqueness in favor of mass consumption, production, and emotions becomes increasingly common and natural. Through dance, the performance conveys a deep reflection on the influence of media on human life, as well as the need to maintain individuality and freedom of choice in today’s society. The choreography is an expression of artistic protest against the hegemony of mass culture and mass propaganda, which often leads to a loss of a sense of identity and values.

The choreography was created as part of the International Choreographic Workshops Open Door. The project was carried out in cooperation with the Semperoper Ballet in Dresden under the auspices of the Polish-German Cooperation Foundation and the Goethe Institute.

The project was implemented as part of the celebrations of the centenary of regaining independence.
